It has been an amazing year and I want to give back and I thought you may be able to help me make this initiative even more amazing! Think of it this way… Christmas Stockings on Steroids!
I’ve been busy making Christmas bags for 40 low-income, mostly single moms & their babies in Kitchener-Waterloo who could use some extra Christmas love. These families are a part of “Growing Healthy Two-gether” in KW for the “financially disadvantaged or socially isolated.” It’s a FCAS – family and children services – mandated program designed to help assist them in raising healthy children.
There are two groups with 20 ladies each which meet once a week. A friend of mine is in one of these groups. After listening to her, a single mom of 4, share about these wonderful women who are all just trying to make ends meet and how tough it is sometimes to get through Christmas…
As a single mom I know how it feels to have nothing to open on Christmas morning that I didn’t put there myself. That only happens if I have money left over after getting a few things for the kids. My stocking is always what I put in from the dollar store so my kids don’t feel bad for me when they’re opening theirs…
I knew I wanted to help put a smile on their face this Christmas.
But there’s only so much I can do on my own. This is where you come in!
If you’d like to help me fill the bags with good quality product/gift cards or a cash donation so I can finish shopping for them, please let me know ASAP. I’ll be delivering the bags to the program on December 19, a bag stuffing party will be at my house Dec 17.
I’m looking for fun and practicality, a bit of need mixed with a bit of want:
- coffee/restaurant gift cards in $5 increments
- gift cards for groceries in $25 increments
- mascara
- Chapstick/lipgloss
- infant toy
- book/magazine
- bath stuff for baby & adult (body wash/shampoo etc)
- hand soaps
- sweets ‘n treats
- sample size beauty items
- and more for mom to feel special…
Any size donation is appreciated. Each little bit helps.
