You may not be able to see or understand all of the emotions being expressed in this picture so let me tell you about it. The five of us, plus a few others that missed the photo op, talk online on a daily basis. Online and not in person because we live thousands of kilometers apart.
- Tara lives in Dryden, Ontario which is 21 hours north of me by car. Yes, in the same Province but 21 hours separates us!’
- Tammi lives near Calgary, Alberta. That’s a 3 hour flight!
- Lynette and Jenn live closer to each other, they’re both on the east coast near Halifax, Nova Scotia. It’d take me a couple of days to drive to see them.
Working in social media has brought a few of us to the same incredible tweet-ups {like CBC Kids} over the last year but for the most-part, we hug our screens more than each other.
Before you think, “What’s the big deal, you’re cyber friends, that’s not a real relationship!” let me slap you and say… YES IT IS! This photo proves it!
Tammi wasn’t able to stay at Blissdom Canada for the full weekend, she had to catch a flight back to Alberta shortly after the last session ended. I was busy giving away prizes and almost missed seeing her off.
We weren’t able to control our tears when saying good-bye. I’m sure in the back of my mind somewhere was the thought, “What if I never see them again?!” They mean so much to me. The bond that we’ve developed over the last year {we met for the first time last year at Blissdom Canada} is more like a sisterhood.
I turn to these ladies when I’ve had a bad day, when I am stumped for a creative writing idea, and when I have a moment to celebrate! 🙂 I tell them everything!
I am so incredibly thankful that Social Media has brought so many fabulous people into my life!
If only more people could experience this kind of love and support… the world would be a better place – I know the blogging world could benefit BIG TIME…
Shannon, I could have not said it better myself!
I can't wait till we see each other IRL again!
EHugs
You're all so fantastic, I feel like I've known you for years!
And here I am, in tears again!!!
Love you all!
well said dear friend… looking at the picture actually brought tears to my eyes again! I miss you ladies 🙁
I feel the same way! I have met so many wonderful people online & I talk to them WAY more than ppl in my own city. Thankfully I have also met many great ppl in Calgary through Twitter that I get to see all the time. My one conference per year rate doesn't give me enough time to see my online friends!
You guys ARE great friends, no matter what anyone says… If they don't have any online friends, then they just don't understand.
It's one of those, "maybe you had to be there" kind of things. 🙂
