I told Liz (Looneybin) I’d let my friends know to pray for one of her children. With not needing to know the nitty gritty, we can all join her in agreement for protection for her kid and for everything to be turned around, right?!

Ephesians 6:18, “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”

Besides praying in the Spirit when you don’t know exactly what to pray, it’s always good to pray with the Word. God said that His Word will never return to Him void (Isa. 55:11), so pray His Word. His Word does not lie. I don’t pray, “If it be Your Will…” ’cause His Will is in His Word and if I know His Word than I know His Will. His Will is that all be saved and walk in a relationship with Him. His Will is that all be healed. (Salvation and healing go hand in hand) It is His Will that we prosper and not be in lack. Know His Word and you’ll know His Will. Before praying – you need to believe. Believe His Word (which is who He is – I am the Word) will do what it says it will do and it will change your life.

Here are a couple Scripture verses I used this past year when praying for change:

Psalms 126, “When the Lord brought back His exiles to Jerusalem, it was like a dream! We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said, “What amazing things the Lord has done for them.” Yes, the Lord has done amazing things for us! What joy! Restore our fortunes (destiny), Lord, as streams renew the desert. Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.”

Pray Psalms 91 over your houshold, we do on a nightly basis with the kids when they go to bed. Actually read most of the Psalms and put yourself in proxy for Liz’s child or for yourself. Put yourself or children’s names in the place where David says, “I” or “me” or “you”. After praying always continue to thank Him for what He’s going to do. “Lord, I know you will rescue ________ (said child) because I know that you delight in _______(said child).(Ps. 18:19)” Pray with authority and conviction, expecting an answer. “Oh that’s just, ‘name it and claim it’ ” – you’re right, it’s more than just that – you need to believe what you are saying, you need to know the author of those words and trust in Him – but know that your confession is important – our words hold great value and great power.

One Scripture I pray over my kids all the time is Proverbs 31:28. It’s part of my daily confession over them, “My children will rise up and call their mother blessed.” I’m not talking to them, I am talking to their spirits. The more I feed their spirit the stronger they will be. Point your kids in the right direction – when they’re old they won’t be lost (Prov 22:6).

It’s also more than just, “Me, my Bible and Jesus” we are part of a body and that means not going it alone. God created us to be a family. Life is built on relationships. Being part of a Spiritual family is so necessary that I can’t begin to describe the value of it. Accountable relationships, where we can walk out our salvation together – as a team – in unity – until He comes again.
