He died 7.5 weeks later. 💔🎄This holiday season make memories; take photos no matter what you think you look like, video everything... even the simplest things like praying over a meal will be appreciated years later! 🙏

Gratitude isn’t just a feeling—it’s a choice

Gratitude isn’t just a feeling—it’s a choice, a posture, a way of life. It’s the thread of goodness and grace woven through our days, the tonic note that keeps the song of life in harmony. Thanksgiving isn’t a date you cross off on the calendar; it’s about a mindset—a conviction, not a cliché.

Even in the hard seasons, I’ve learned to say, thank you. Not because everything goes my way, but because I trust in the goodness of God. Habakkuk 3:16-19 reminds us to rejoice, even when circumstances fall short. Gratitude isn’t naive; it’s bold. It’s not about liking what you get—it’s about anchoring your heart in trust and grace.

Today, I’m counting my blessings. My life is shaped by thank you. How about you? Stop right now—take a moment—and share 10 things you’re grateful for. Let’s build a chorus of gratitude together.

Back from the Canadian Pacific District retreat in Whistler with Dave and an unbelievably awesome group of pastors and spouses from our church and beyond. I love the heart and humour of the people he gets to work alongside—we’re part of an incredible leadership team! Loved every minute of getting to know them better. Bonus: our boys joined us, so we had some extra family time in the village. Whistler + great people = the best memories.

It’s been over a decade since you first appeared in our home, and I can’t imagine it without you. From Q’s secretive high school sweetheart to Emma’s best friend, beloved wife, and mom to my grandsons—your heart and humour is in so much of our story.

I’m grateful for the memories we’ve shared, the journeys we’ve taken, and the quiet strength you bring to every moment. I couldn’t be prouder of the woman you are and all that you give.

It’s not every day you get to meet someone who’s shaped an entire generation of worship!

This weekend, I had the honour of learning from Dr. Ron Kenoly at the Ignite Nations Global conference. At nearly 80, after 46 years in ministry and a summer spent in the hospital recovering from two heart surgeries and two lung surgeries, this man showed up. He taught with depth, wisdom, and humility—reminding us what true worship is all about.

Last night, to help launch Ignite Global Church with our dear friends Bishops Greg & Diana Gill, he led us in a concert that took us back to the roots of every worship song that filled our churches in the ’90s. It was powerful. Dr. Kenoly’s resilience and his passion for worship is something I won’t forget. He’s lived it, through the highs and lows, and he’s still here, pouring into others.

Meeting him was a privilege. Learning from him was a gift.

I started a new role at the Canada Institute of Linguistics (CanIL) at Trinity Western University, and Dave started something new too...

When he retired in 2022 after 35 years of ministry in Ontario, many saw it as a season of “refirement,” not retirement. They were right.

After much-needed rest, a lot of 🏡 renovations, and a few bucket list ✈️ trips, he’s now stepped into a role seemingly curated just for him—Pastor of Seniors at Peace Portal Alliance, the church we’ve been attending since our move to BC.

300+ seniors have been waiting for this moment, and we’re ALL excited for what’s ahead.

A new chapter begins—refired, not retired. 🔥

Grateful and ready for what’s next. 🙏

Looking Back: We took on Cypress Bowl’s adventurous mountain coaster and soaked in epic views of Vancouver. Grateful for the memories we make with those we love. 🌲💚

Visiting Family: nephew Matthew and his wife Rachel Shuttlesworth and their kids Charlie & London from Ontario and nephew Brahm Houweling from Arizona.

P.S. That lookout point? It’s where Dave first asked to kiss me back in December 1995.

We finished the day where I spent the first 12 years of my life, in North Van. Took a little hike & explored Lynn Canyon.
