We’re on our way home. We decided at the last minute to stay an extra day and we’re glad we did. If we could have stayed the whole week…. we would have! Right now we’re at my S-I-L’s hanging by the pool before taking the back roads home. The kids wanted to get in one more swim and I wanted to blog a bit.

The weekend was incredible for us. The weather was perfect – the company was even better. Dr. Ron Cline is up for the week preaching, I really enjoyed him on Sunday morning. My kids had fun in Sunday school, even JZ went without crying and stayed in nursery for the entire service.

We spent Saturday, Sunday, and Monday at the beach. On Sunday I took out my very first Kayak! My friend Sheryl talked me into going with her and I’m so glad I went. I’m not one to venture out into the water – I have actually had panic attacks before (trauma from a near drowning incident when I was 5…). We were out for about 45 minutes going down the river, checking out the cottages and gabbing. What a better way to spend a day!! Emma spent most of the time at the beach in the water with her other mermaid buddies and Li sat in the sand and played at the water’s edge. He was very aware of his ‘leak’ and couldn’t get his head wet. JZ also loved the water but mostly… he slept whenever we were at the beach. That was a nice break! When we were up at the campsite the kids were at the playground across the street. It was heaven.

We ate dinner in the buffet restaurant on Saturday night for Prime Rib and Sunday brunch where we ate crab legs, ribs, roast beef, sausages, eggs, waffles with fresh fruit and whipped cream, bacon, salad, fresh fruit, desserts, corn on the cob, and the list goes on and on and on. I stuffed myself! Do you like my version of camping?! The rest of the time I cooked up in the RV, it was so easy – this was a very relaxing weekend.

There was a scary moment on Sunday afternoon. Close to the campground is a natural waterslide, where Mary Lake drops into a river. We went there last year and had a blast but this year there was a ton of rain that fell last week. A ban from going down the slide was posted (a teen died there about 2 weeks ago) but it had been removed by teenagers the day before. My cousin thought that it was too rough for his kids but he decided to go down, he made it fine – yes a bit rough but fun. His wife decided to go down after him in an inner tube. The tube flipped and she went under at the base of the slide and got caught in the undertow. Alden ran down the hill and jumped in the water to save her and got caught in the undertow himself. They are both safe but extremely shaken and exhausted. They both nearly drowned. They weren’t wearing life jackets and Ruby can’t swim. The first thing they said to us was that we were nearly the parents of two more little children. It was scarey and totally surreal for them to know that they came so close to seeing our Maker and Creator way before their time. They have an incredible testimony that I will share when I get home. God saved them, I know that and they know that.

Well, my hubby is telling me to get off of my S-I-L’s laptop and get in the RV, it is time to hit the road… again. Talk to you soon!!

  5. I just wanted to tell you to visit this post to get a prayer button for Emma Grace at Midlife Moments or Amy at Wilhoite Prayer Blog, or Addison at In the Midst of It. If you haven’t heard of any of them but any of their stories touch your heart, and you are going to pray for them then be sure to get a “button” for them!
I am hoping to help them out by not only supporting them in prayers but spreading the word of their prayer needs!

  6. I love kayaking. J and I went last year when I was visiting him for a few months. The Kayaks we went in made you feel like you were sitting right in the water without getting wet. Very fun! I’m soo glad to hear that Alden and Ruby are ok!! Tell them J and I say HI!
