I’ve been thinking a lot lately about our ladies ministry at church. It’s been called, “Women with Faith” or as it’s known around our area… WWF, for as long as I can remember, since the church started in 1993 I think. It was called that before I came into the picture. This has been my hesitancy in changing things up a bit. I liked our name, our theme too was, “More powerful than stone cold Steve Austin” – that was before the Panda won out and they changed their name to WWE. Lately I spend more times explaining the acronyms than anything.

So what are your ladies groups called at your church? Do you have any unique ideas to help this PW out? Something hip but that speaks to all the ladies, across the ages. Or should we keep it as WWF? I saw one a few weeks ago called, “Chicks, Chat and Chocolate”. It’s a mouth full but it sounds like it would be a fun group to hang out with. Do we even need a name? (We’re getting together on Friday night – so no pressure here people!)

  1. I like that Chocolate one. Can you use that one or is it taken so you can’t? I think the Chocolate one sounds like fun.

  2. oh I like the chocolate one too!

  3. “What is in a name? that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet;….”
Yes, change the name… something that speaks to who you are and who you want to be.
A name makes it easier to identify a group. Something interesting will stir the imaginations of new people coming into the church.
And did you know Steve Austin crucified himself in one of his shows?… maybe not the best association even though your “more powerful then…”
And any thing with chocolate sounds good to me!

  4. I should add, I like WWF, Women of Faith as well… but if your asking yourself, maybe it is time to change the name….
