With 150 years of creating family staple condiments, Heinz is proud to introduce Heinz Dijon mustard, made with the finest ingredients including No. 1 grade Canadian mustard seeds.
Living in Kitchener, Ontario where we celebrate the largest Oktoberfest festival outside of Germany, we’ve eaten a lot of sausage in our day. Each time, it’s served with homemade a mustard and honey sauce. Mustard is a condiment we always have around.
Last month, Kraft Heinz sent me a bottle of their Heinz Dijon Mustard to try out. I must admit, it’s been several years since I used Dijon, so I was happy to take up the challenge. In pure Shash style, the recipe had to be easy enough for my kids to be able to help with and yummy enough for them to actually eat.
My little chef this time was Joey, an 11 year old I was watching for the week. She is a self-proclaimed picky eater and so this recipe had to pass her test. Since she’s a big fan of ham, I knew exactly what to do!
Together, we created Heinz Dijon Orange Sauce we could pour over pre-cooked Black Forest Ham.
Heinz Dijon Orange Sauce
What you’ll need:
½ cup orange marmalade
½ cup orange juice
¼ cup Heinz Dijon Mustard
What you’ll do:
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil, stirring until thoroughly combined. Use as a sauce for sliced ham (also good over pork chops or pork tenderloin). It makes an excellent glaze as well, just spoon over entire ham about 30 minutes before ham is done, basting 2 or 3 times.
After discovering how much flavour the Heinz Dijon adds to a meal, I decided to make a Tuna Casserole for lunch, using a couple of tablespoons of the Dijon mustard. Joey had 3 helpings! Kid Tested – Kid Approved. 🙂
