Peanut Butter Cookies remind me of my childhood. I have fond memories of coming home after school and seeing (and smelling) freshly baked peanut butter cookies spread out on the counter, on top of brown paper grocery bags. I thought I’d revisit the recipe this month. I promise, they’ll leave your kid’s tummies satisfied – the ultimate and super tasty after-school snack! For me, Peanut Butter is like a super food. It’s full of nutritional goodness, including a great source of protein.
Is it just me, but I’m JUST starting to feel like I’m getting into the swing of things for the new school year. Getting the kids up and ready for school early in the mornings and making sure my youngest is on time for the bus can be exhausting by itself. My kiddos come home from school tired and “starving.” Peanut Butter Cookies are the perfect pick-me-up snack to have ready for them.
Sidenote: My oldest is in his first year of University. When I bought snacks for him and his best friend Keri, who is a 2nd year student at the same University, all she wanted was a jar of Kraft Peanut Butter and a Spoon!
Peanut Butter Cookies are also a great snack to have around when your house is full of guests – which is something that happens at our house all the time. They’re easy to make and a huge favourite in our home.
DYK: 79% of Canadian households enjoy peanut butter at least once a week, according to Erickson Research from the Peanut Bureau of Canada.
Let’s get started!
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup butter
1 egg
1 cup KRAFT Peanut Butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup golden brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 3/4 cup flour
DIRECTIONS:
Step 1: Combine KRAFT peanut butter and butter together until creamy.
Step 2: Add in granulated sugar, brown sugar and egg. Mix until smooth.
Step 3. Slowly mix in flour, baking powder, baking soda and vanilla. Stir until dough doesn’t stick to sides.
Step 4: Set oven to 350 degrees. Roll a small spoons worth of dough and put on stone baking pan or sheet. Take a fork and press down into the rolled dough to make the peanut butter cookie signature look.
Step 5: Place in oven and bake for 10-12 minutes.
Makes 30-45 cookies
